As a college lacrosse coach, Paul served as defensive, offensive and goal keeping coach during his successful career. He brought such a diversity of sports backgrounds that much of his teaching points and ‘outside the box’ plays and systems are still considered cutting edge today. His teams were nationally competitive and he helped build a team that won an ECAC title, one of the top lacrosse conferences in the country at the time.
Paul’s players are tough, quick, smart, and hard working. They enjoy playing the sport and strive to compete against any level of opponent without fear. His lessons come from a depth of experience that few possess and a commitment to the athletes he trains that establishes a unique bond that exists long after the training has passed!
Forever an athlete, Paul plays men’s lacrosse for the Jacksonville Predators in the Florida Lacrosse League as a defensive specialist. Coach McCord specializes in building lacrosse players and not necessarily running lacrosse plays. He has developed a system of teaching lacrosse players known as “The Maniax Way” that quickly takes athletes with little or no background in the sport and transforms them into college-level players. The system has helped more than sixty players in three years earn spots on NCAA college rosters and more than a dozen more on college club programs.
Paul McCord has as diverse and successful a sports background as they come! He has coached championship programs in multiple sports, including collegiate, professional, and prep teams. In addition, he has physically trained numerous athletes and all-americans in dozens of sports including major league baseball, pro football, elite lacrosse, pro golf, pro basketball, pro/olympic track and field just to name a few. Paul has also trained young community athletes, as old as 7-years old, and inspired them to learn the mechanics of movement and speed at young ages. Paul began teaching sports classes at his local YMCA as a 16-year old basketball instructor, working with local youth kids.
Recently, Paul founded the LaxManiax Elite lacrosse program. The club is the most revered club system in the southern United States and has won regional championships as well as national acclaim. The program has served more than 500 athletes since its inception and has changed the way the game is played in the state of Florida. Linking more than 30 of the state’s top coaches, alumni players, and lacrosse guru’s from four corners of the state, Paul has succeeded in a venture due in large part to the success of the individual athletes and their improvement while in the LaxManiax program.
Paul is also a highly regarded women’s District-rated official, one of only a handful in the south region. He is the director and trainer of officials for North Florida. Paul is on the Board of Directors of Sport Axiology and he is currently working with programs and athletes all over the country to help them improve and sharpen their mental games. Sports Axiology is another opportunity for Paul’s athletes and all the athletes in LaxAcademy programs to benefit from!
